Jon Hamm Costars With Blake Lively In 'Town,' But Is He A 'Gossip Girl' Fan? We Test His Knowledge!

While on hiatus from "Mad Men" the always-charming Jon Hamm has grown a beard (may it rest in peace), hosted "Saturday Night Live" and starred in one this year's Sundance Film Festival favorites, "Howl" (opposite the equally handsome James Franco).

But, "Howl" wasn't the only movie project Jon kept busy with, as he also stars in this year's "The Town," which costars none other than "Gossip Girl" actress Blake Lively, causing two of TV's most beloved worlds to collide (though we can't imagine Serena lasting too long at Sterling Cooper!).

MTV News' own Josh Horowitz asked Jon if he was in fact a fan of "Gossip Girl" (hey, if Leo can be a fan of "Jersey Shore," anything is possible!) and the results were sort of surprising. While Jon jokingly replied, "I'm a huge 'Gossip Girl' fan, I can't tell you!" you have to give him major kudos for knowing Blake's character's name adding, "My TiVo is stuffed with the adventures of Serena!" Though when prompted to say Serena's full name, things don't go as smoothly, calling her "Serena VanDerHootenFourthThird." Ahh, so close!

So, the Golden Globe winner may not be the biggest "Gossip Girl" fan, but he does admit, "I've seen parts of it, let's put it that way." Hey, when you're as adorable as Jon Hamm, we'll gladly accept that answer. Xoxo. Check out the video able to see the full clip.

Tim Robbins is the latest name to join a high-profile comic book movie as he has signed on to star as Senator Hammond in the GREEN LANTERN. Ben Affleck On 'Town' Star Blake Lively: 'She's Great In My Movie'

Blake Lively never made it to the snowy mountains of the Sundance Film Festival, but her name was heard up and down Main Street, uttered by some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Ryan Reynolds declared that the "Gossip Girl" beauty is going to be "flawless" opposite him in the comic book adaptation, "Green Lantern."

And Ben Affleck, who cast Blake last summer in "The Town," had nothing but kind things to say about the 22-year-old actress, even though he's never caught a single episode of the TV show that made her a star.

"I have never seen 'Gossip Girl,' I have to say," he admitted. "I saw 'The Private Lives of Pippa Lee,' which she's really, really great in and she's great in my movie."

Ben's directorial follow-up to his acclaimed 2007 indie, "Gone Baby Gone," "Town" follows a bankrobber (played by Ben) who falls head over handgun for the bank's manager. Blake plays his ex-girlfriend. In an Esquire article last month, Ben opened up about how he ended up casting Lively for the role.

"This girl came in, and no one had said to me beforehand, 'Hey, look for this person,' " he said. "And obviously she was really attractive, and so I thought, Oh, here comes some blond girl. She came in, did one reading, and just crushed it. Like, Boston accent—really good. I was sort of stunned. I said, 'Jeez, you know, that was really f*cking good. Who are you?' "

Ben may have found the perfect person for the role, but no amount of casting good fortune seemed to be able to calm the guy's nerves on set. "I think you feel a huge amount of pressure as a director on every movie," he told us. "Every director I know who I've talked to about directing says they feel tremendous anxiety. That's good, because I feel like I'm not alone, because I have a huge amount of anxiety."

'Gossip Girl' Casting News: Serena's Long-Lost Dad Has Been Found!

Where in the world is William van der Woodsen? That’s the question that’s been on everyone’s mind — especially Serena’s (Blake Lively) — as the mid-season of "Gossip Girl" came to a close in December. The sexy socialite spent the end of season two in Europe hunting for her long-lost father and then a mysterious letter from him appeared in the wrong hands (cough... Rufus... cough cough). Now, EW now reporting that we may have a few clues as to who he is (at least in real life).

Sources confirm to EW that actor Billy Baldwin will play Serena’s estranged father in at least three episodes, which are slated to run in April. Last time we saw Billy (who is the second youngest of the four famous Baldwin brothers, including "30 Rock" star Alec and "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant Stephen), on TV, he was a New York City senator having an affair with a transsexual in ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money." At least he already knows a thing or two about the messy politics of Manhattan's elite crowd!

So, what can we expect of this deadbeat dad? Rumors are swirling that his past relationship with Serena's mommy, who now has the longest last name on the face of the Earth, Lily Rhodes van der Woodsen Bass Humphrey (Kelly Rutherford) is going to be a big part of the character's plot line, and E! is hearing that he'll be coming between Lily and Rufus (Matthew Settle).

It’s an interesting choice of casting, considering Billy has been married for over 15 years and is not exactly the home-wrecking character he’s scheduled to play on the show. Perhaps one of the other Baldwin brothers might have been a more fitting choice? Zing!

Blake Lively To Light Up ‘Green Lantern’

Blake Lively will bring her “Gossip Girl” glow to “Green Lantern,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The young star will take on the role of love interest Carol Ferris, who hires test pilot Hal Jordan – the man who becomes the interstellar superhero Green Lantern.

Ryan Reynolds is playing the title role in Warner Bros.’ DC Comics adaptation, which kicks off production this spring as it ramps up toward a planned June 17, 2011 release date.

Blake’s casting didn’t come easy – according to Latino Review, other actresses vying for the role included Keri Russell and Jennifer Garner. In addition to The CW’s “Gossip Girl,” the star recently appeared on the big screen in “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.”

Blake Lively Among Contenders to Be 'Green Lantern' Girlfriend

Words on the street, "Gossip Girl" star Blake Lively could join Ryan Reynolds in the cast ensemble for "Green Lantern". According to Latino Review, the 22-year-old beauty who has just appeared in "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" is among five candidates who have a chance to take the role of Carol Ferris, the love interest of Hal Jordan/Green Lantern.

However, Lively would not get that role easily as she has to compete with Eva Green, the James Bond's girl in 2006 "Casino Royale", and Jennifer Garner, the depicter of female international assassin in "Elektra". Then, "Mission: Impossible 3" star Keri Russell and Diane Kruger who played Helen in "Troy" are reportedly also named on the list of contenders to be the leading lady in the upcoming superhero flick.

On the script, Carol is described as the daughter of aerospace mogul Carl Ferris. "She works for her father's company Ferris Air, got an MBA, and has a lifetime crush on Hal Jordan," Latino Review additionally reported.

Ready to spend more time in the world of movies, Blake Lively was ready to appear with Julianna Moore, Robin Wright, and Maria Bello in “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.”

But a part that involved the Gossip Girl star in underwear made her rethink if this was right for her career.

The 22-year-old said, “It was an odd thing to do but really funny. There was a point when I was crawling on all fours and Julianne was like ‘purr for me’ and I thought ‘what am I doing with my life? I’ve finally got the most respectable job of my career yet I’m being leashed up and asked to purr. But Julianne is such a wonderful, kind and happy person so that made it easy to feel safe crawling around leashed up.”

And one thing Lively loves to do is keep busy, even with friends encouraging her to take a break. “I always have to keep myself really really busy and I can’t stop. All my friends are like ‘oh you don’t need to do something right now, just take a day for yourself. Take a couple of minutes to sit down; you don’t have to do all that.’ My biggest problem is I fill my life with too much business that I don’t need to worry myself with.”

But it’s in the actresses’ nature, growing up with four other siblings, although she doesn’t expect any children of her own anytime in the future soon. “Seeing my parents have their hands full, it was in my nature to want to make the people around me happy.”

Blake Lively might look like a girly girl, but when it comes to her style, she likes to go a little edgier with rocker accessories. But if you ask her to pinpoint just what the Lively look is, she can't really put it in words.

"I don't really know how to describe my personal style," she told Nylon for its December issue. "I love layering things. Fall is my favorite time of the year to get dressed. I really like the new craze that's happening with the darker more studded things, ripped-up things ... harder shoulder-pad sleeves. It's fun. ... I need more of those spiked bracelets. ... I [like] things that are feminine but still have an edge."

In the issue, Lively also discussed playing international party girl Serena van der Woodsen on "Gossip Girl." She said where she ends and Serena begins is a bit blurred — at least when it comes to style. "I dress just like Serena!" she said. "I own half her wardrobe, so it's far too similar to the way I dress. I feel ridiculous at times with her, because I'm, you know, killing someone or marrying someone, but I look like me. I'm like, 'Oh, this is absurd.' "

Lively also talked to the magazine about her tendency to feel a little too much, which probably helps her acting. "I feel a lot," she said. "I get really bad stomachaches all the time. So I went to a doctor, and he said, 'You're a feeler.' I take on people's pain a little too much."

The former Spice Girl, who designs as well as models her eponymous couture, met Blake at New York Fashion Week in September and the pair got along famously.

Blake, who is a fan of Victoria’s clothes, persuaded the star to take a cameo role in the TV show and Victoria has returned the favour by asking Blake to model her next collection.

Her fashion sense has landed her on the cover of magazines including Marie Claire and her hair ‘do has prompted hundreds of women to pop into stores across the country and ask for her sensational look.

“The New York Times did a whole [story] – in the ‘70s there was the Farrah, in the ‘90s there was the Rachel/Jennifer Aniston’s style from ‘Friends’… Now there is the Blake Lively,” Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush told Blake earlier this week during an interview while promoting her new movie, “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.”

“It’s crazy,” Blake said of the fever over her crop. “It’s very flattering. It’s kind of weird reading that because, you know, here I was when I was a kid wanting my hair to look like Jennifer Aniston’s.”

The trend setting “Gossip Girl” is in a class all by herself and believe it or not, there are very few bells and whistles to her coif whether it is swept up and braided down the back or curly.

“The way I do my hair in the morning, when I go to set on ‘Gossip Girl,’ I just put my hair in a bun dry it and just twist it up in a ballerina bun, do my make-up and take it out and then it’s wavy.

“I like my hair to look not too done,” she added. “I think it looks pretty if it looks like maybe it was curled the day before and then you wake up and it’s just like the sexy, messy look.”

Victoria Beckham lands role in US TV series Gossip Girl

She's a big cheese in fashion ... and now Victoria Beckham has designs on the small screen. The former Spice Girl has landed a role in the hit US TV series Gossip Girl - which is famed as much for its fashion as its storylines.

Victoria, 35, was persuaded to appear by its star Blake Lively, who is a big fan of her outfits. Posh will fly to New York on Wednesday and hopes to film all the scenes for her cameo appearance in a day.

Our US mole says: "Blake and co-star Leighton Meester are fans of Victoria's designs, and have both worn her dresses. "Blake attended the unveiling of Victoria's new collection in New York last month, alongside the series' stylist Eric Damen.

"The trio started chatting and Victoria revealed she was a huge fan of the show. From here, Blake pleaded with her to guest star in an episode and ran the idea past producers."

Talks were then held - although the former Spice Girl had a few conditions. Gossip Girl revolves around the lives of privileged teens at an elite private school in Manhattan's Upper East Side and we're told: "She isn't an actress and wanted her role to be very tongue-in-cheek. And an idea for her to play Brit actor Ed Westwick's long-lost mother was quickly vetoed. Victoria joked that she'd rather play his ex-love interest!" Of course, VB is likely to wear one of her own designs during her cameo.

Lady GaGa has become the latest star to sign up for a cameo on hit US show Gossip Girl. The 23-year-old appeared as herself in an episode filmed in New York on Tuesday for the series' third season. The likes of Tyra Banks, Hilary Duff and Sonic Youth have also appeared on the show about the lives of privileged teenagers at an elite private school in New York.

Tyra shares, “Most of my scenes are with Blake Lively. She is so cool and normal! The scene’s at the Ziegfeld theater at the movie premiere for [my character] Ursula. Our green room was all the same room. I would think that Blake’s the star of the show, why does she want to sit in the room the guest stars and everyone else? She was right there, eating Greek food, hanging out, playing with her dog, and laying on the couch with rollers in her hair right next to everybody. I was really touched by that and was like, she’s a real girl. And I always knew it because I met her before. But to see her in her environment and her turf and to see her that down to earth is pretty amazing.”

Badgley 'lucky to work with Lively'

Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley has claimed that he is "lucky" to work with girlfriend Blake Lively.

The actor, who plays Dan Humphrey in the CW drama, told Us Weekly that he appreciates being able to work alongside Lively (Serena Van Der Woodsen). "We're lucky. I mean, some would say it's a double-edged sword, but in our case we manage to balance it well," he explained.

Lively recently joked that she had "poisoned" her fellow castmates against Badgley after learning that he had been cast as her on-screen love interest. The pair met when she was just 11 years old.

Blake Lively is our style icon of the week, whether on or off the red carpet, this girl knows how to throw on an impressive get-up!

Wow, wow, wow! Could Blake Lively look any hotter right now? Not only has the Gossip Girl won our hairstyle of the week awardwith her sleek and sophisticated plait, she’s also won our style award with her selection of jaw-dropping frocks and model-like pins.

The first impressive outfit to turn us green with envy, was when we spotted Blake, backstage at the Marchesa show. The actress flashed her money-making pins in a pair of Marchesa lace shorts, teamed with a low-cut blazer. Loving the bang-on-trend lacy look!

Blake then stole the limelight at the MTV music awards with an impressive two outfit changes. The first flash-bulb worthy frock was a sharp-shouldered design by Balmain. The 22 year old showed off her killer curves in the thigh-high sequin dress and looked sexier than ever!

Our favourite look of the week however was when Blake stepped onto the red carpet looking every inch the Hollywood star in a floor-length Versace frock. The thigh-high split and low-cut design ensured the look was sexy and young and cemented her place in the fashion elite.

We have serious hair envy thanks to Blake Lively’s long plaited hair! Move over Cheryl Cole, we have another celebrity hair crush and this time it’s Gossip Girl, Blake Lively.

This week the stunning blonde bombshell stepped onto the red carpet with a long and sophisticated plait. The actress used the low-maintenance hairstyle to full effect as she attended the Emmy awards in a stunning red gown.

Plaits have been seen on the heads of celebrity trendsetters such as Nicole Richie, Mary-Kate Olsen and Lauren Conrad, who have been busy twisting their hair in favour of the old school hairstyle for many, many months.

The trend is easy to follow as there are hundreds of ways to wear plaits - from loose and girly to smooth and sleek. If you want to copy Blake’s look then all you have to do is pull hair back into a smooth high pony, secure with elastic, then plait away to the end of your hair.

Don’t worry if wispy bits start coming out of your plait as this is all part of the look, just make sure you spray the top part of your head with hairspray, as you want to keep this bit as smooth as possible.

Emmy pundits are predicting a lot of repeat winners at this Sunday's awards. "Mad Men" and "30 Rock" are heavy favorites to repeat in the prestigious series categories. GOSSIP GIRL FANS SPARK MORE SECURITY FEARS

ContactMusic.com: New York City police have stepped in to protect the cast of hit U.S. TV drama GOSSIP GIRL - after fans sparked security fears by storming the set at the weekend (begs05Sep09).

Co-stars and real-life couple Blake Lively and Penn Badgley, and actors Ed Westwick and Taylor Momsen, were filming a party scene at Manhattan's Empire Hotel when hordes of screaming teen fans prompted complaints from guests. Police barricades and security guards were needed to keep the over-excited devotees at a distance.

And according to the New York Post, Lively and Badgley's off-screen romance added to the furor. A source says, "All the people (were) waiting to get to the rooftop to gawk at them."

Just last month (Aug09), the cast sparked outrage among residents in the city's quiet Gramercy Park neighbourhood after fans swarmed the set to get a glimpse of guest star Hilary Duff.

Blake Lively joining Affleck's 'Town'

"Gossip Girl" star Blake Lively has been added to the cast of Ben Affleck's crime thriller "The Town," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

She'll join Affleck, Jon Hamm, Rebecca Hall and Jeremy Renner, already cast in this adaptation of Chuck Hogan's novel "Prince of Thieves." Chris Cooper is reportedly in negotiations to join the cast, too.

Shooting begins next month in Boston on this story that follows an FBI agent, played by Hamm, trying to bust career criminal Affleck and his gang. Lively will play Affleck's troubled ex-girlfriend; Cooper would play his father.

Blake Lively was in NYC to film Gossip Girl on Monday, but yesterday she arrived in Boston with her luggage to start work on The Town. She was joined by her costar Rebecca Hall, who landed a role in the film following her work in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The girls will also be joined on screen by Jon Hamm, though he's back in LA following his own trip to Massachusetts over the weekend. Yesterday also happened to be Blake's 22nd birthday, so she may have been able to celebrate with both her familiar and new cast and crew.

Hilary Duff 'Feels Welcome On Gossip Girl Set'

Hilary Duff has spoken about her time on the set of Gossip Girl, revealing the cast have made her feel more than welcome. Currently shooting for the new season, where she plays Olivia Burke - a roommate for Vanessa (played by Jessica Szohr) - she told reporters: "Everyone's been really, really gracious to me and sweet to me."

"I'm a huge fan of the show. They called me and said come on and do a few episodes. I jumped at the chance," People quote her as saying.

As for her co-stars, Duff is getting on like a house on fire. "Blake [Lively] and Penn [Badgley] are really amazing." She adds. "She's been so so sweet to me."

Hilary also spoke about working alongside another new name to the cast - Tyra Banks: "She looked beautiful and did a really great job. She had the flat hair that squiggles on her forehead. Very flapper-ish!"
